Choosing a card: four things that decide whether it just works
We are not the manufacturer — this is field experience from handling these cards. Confirm against datasheets and your own system.
The controller generation decides drivers and features, not the port count
X520 (82599), X710/XL710 and E810 are three controller generations with different driver stacks (ixgbe / i40e / ice), SR-IOV limits and DPDK support. A common trap: a very new kernel dropping the old driver, not the other way round.
On fibre cards, check the vendor module policy
Retail Intel cards ship locked to Intel-coded optics (allow_unsupported_sfp exists, at your own risk); Broadcom and Mellanox are generally open. DAC cables are usually accepted by all. Decide your optics before you buy the card.
OEM variants are not retail cards
Dell / HPE / Lenovo branded cards run vendor firmware — great inside their own servers, sometimes quirky in whitebox machines; brackets come full- and half-height. Our line items state OEM part numbers where applicable — ask before you commit.
What to check on pulled cards
Edge-connector wear, original heatsink, firmware version and whether it can be reflashed. We link-test every card — link light is not line rate — and the method is stated on the lot page. Re-test yourself, welcome.
Cross-reference by brand
Equivalents by brand at the same rating. Green = we have handled it and the cell links through. This is not a drop-in guarantee — use it to narrow the search.

Common questions
What firmware do pulled cards ship with?
We do not touch firmware — cards ship exactly as pulled, versions listed per line item. Batch reflashing to a specific version can be arranged at cost.
Can I buy by the card?
NIC lots can usually be split; minimums depend on the part, typically 20–100 pieces. Whole-lot pricing is meaningfully better.
Are you an authorised distributor for these brands?
No, and we have never claimed to be. Stock comes from cancelled projects, plant closures and distributor clear-outs, and every lot says which. See Quality & verification.
